Finding Unused Software with LabStats
The Power BI dashboard at LabStats allows you to monitor large swathes of data for extended periods. You can find unused licenses in the Power BI dashboard by following the steps below:
· Open the Power BI dashboard template
· Open ‘Peak Consistent Application Usage’
· Click on the column header ‘Application Utilization’ on the usage table
· Sort the results in descending order
· Applications on top of the list are the least used
You can also discover where excess licenses are installed by following the steps below:
· Click on ‘Peak Concurrent Usage by Group’
· Filter the list by ‘User Count’
· Select the application column in the title, which will then display usage by groups
· Click on a group to view the activity
As you find unused software licenses, you can use the data to reduce software strategically or renegotiate the license renewal agreement.
