While the numbers and statistics aren't exactly from jack's blog

Thiswas, however, the case with Brendan Malcolm, the one-man team from Australian game developer Games By Malcs OSRS Gold,  whose idle RPG Melvor Idle is now being published by Jagex the company that developed RuneScape the title that was the core motivation behind his own project.

Melvor Idle strips away the 3D graphics and environments of RuneScape and similar MMOs and reduces it to a simple idle game based on menus that lets players control their abilities, inventory and quests. Engaging in combat and winning awards XP and loot that is then used to purchase any skill tree or upgrades players wish to purchase, while repeating activities such as crafting or woodcutting can bring benefits.

Malcolm has been playing RuneScape from the age of a child and has also played some of the top idle games, including Clicker Heroes, Cookie Clicker and NGU Idle. While he was a fan, he felt this genre could offer something else that was rewarding in the same way as Jagex's most popular RPG.

"So I decided to come up with my own idea, I had no idea it would even be published, let alone be so well-known," he tells GamesIndustry.biz. "I was looking to create something that was not in the traditional idle game mould with a feature-rich game and offered players real choice in how they wanted to progress rather than simply increasing numbers on a constant treadmill. After pondering it for bit behind closed doors I started combining ideas and mechanics from classic MMOs with the popular idle game design, making something that could be enjoyed casually, at the go, and fit it into the busy life of a player."

He continues: "While the numbers and statistics aren't exactly what players are most interested in when playing MMOs It is the one that people who are devoted fans tend to be drawn to once the exploring is done. Since it's usually central to what the most long-term players' minds are on, it made sense to include this as a  OSRS Gold For Sale core part of the game's design. Plus it meshes very well with the common design elements in most idle games."
