You're looking to go with the classics but you don't want it to be a classic. It seems that you want to try something new. Every private server that played Classic + gave up after several weeks. The only reason to play this game that is 15 years old is because of the community.

On that point Classic has done a great job more than any Classic + edition could. What you're asking for is an old game of 15 years to be inventive and introduce new well everything, they did, its called expansions and while there are some that don't, it's basically Classic +.
