The standardization of stat allocation (in WOW Classic TBC Gold part due to improved class design and understanding what characters are looking for) ended the ability to create memorable items by the design of stats. Now all the memorable things people talk about items are memorable because of things that do not fall within the system of stat budgets: procs, abilities that can be used on the fly, high budget exceptions (War Glaives), and honorable mentions to speed of weapons that lets them create objects objectively superior to other items without being budgeted.
Vanilla's vanilla classes did not want their Tier Gear as it wasn't well-itemized or did not match their specs (feral Druid DPS warlord, for instance,). All tier gear in vanilla is at least decent, or even bis. So , overall I think there's less waiting to be decently geared.
There are 5 upgrades for feral tank in mc, and cheap WOW TBC Classic Gold some were highly sought-after (accuria and agi's cloakoff). Tier gear was ineffective, other than a few pieces being pertinent to a tank set. Other parts, like the heavy dark iron ring and shoulders for fireguards, were dropped. It was not exciting.
