2. The Resistance Debuff System
After each act in PoE 2, you’ll face a debuff that lowers your resistances across all elemental types:
Act 1 Completion: You receive a -10% debuff to Path of exile currency all elemental resistances.Act 2 Completion: You receive a -20% debuff (cumulative).Act 3 Completion: A -30% debuff, and so on.
This means that after completing Act 1, your resistances will automatically be -10% across all elemental types, and after Act 2, they will be -20%. This can make elemental damage much harder to handle unless you take steps to counteract the debuff.
3. The Impact of Debuffs on Resistances
How the Debuff Affects Your Resistances:
For example, if you have 50% Fire Resistance going into Act 2 and complete Act 1, you will then have 40% Fire Resistance due to the -10% debuff. Similarly, completing Act 2 will lower your Fire Resistance to 30%.
How to Counter the Debuffs:
Sisters of Garukhan: Certain in-game encounters like Sisters of Garukhan provide permanent +10% Lightning Resistance, which can counteract the debuffs from earlier acts.Gear: As you progress, gear with resistance mods becomes increasingly important. Aim to find rings, amulets, and belts that provide bonuses to Path of exile currency for sale resistances, especially Lightning Resistance, to compensate for the debuffs.Passive Skill Tree: Many nodes in the passive skill tree can boost your elemental resistances. There are nodes specifically designed for Fire, Cold, and Lightning resistances, as well as Chaos Resistance.
