EA Sports College Football 25 On-Screen Player Icon Guide

EA Sports College Football 25 introduces a range of CFB 25 Coins on-screen icons to help players manage the complex aspects of gameplay. These icons provide vital information about player actions, defensive alignments, and other gameplay mechanics, enhancing your strategic decisions. Here’s a breakdown of the key icons you’ll encounter during gameplay.

Field General Ability Icons

Field General abilities represent quarterback traits and impact pre-snap decisions. The icons related to Field General abilities are small, so you'll need to become familiar with them as you play. These abilities are divided into tiers, with bronze, gold, and platinum providing varying levels of detail.

Red Exclamation Marks (Bronze Tier): These marks indicate potential blitzers. While not always accurate, they are an alert to possible pressure coming your way.

Numbers Over Safeties (Gold or Platinum Tier): When you see numbers above safeties, it indicates their coverage shell or disguised coverage. This is crucial for reading the defense and adjusting your play accordingly.

Defender Role Icons: M, F, P, C

During pre-snap, pressing RT/R2 shows icons that indicate the roles of defenders, helping you make better offensive adjustments.

M – Mike Defender: This icon identifies the "Mike" linebacker, who is key to pass protection on the offensive line. The offensive line will focus on the Mike when making protection calls.

R – Read Key Defender: This icon appears in Read Option and RPO Read plays. The Read key is the defender the quarterback reads to decide whether to hand the ball off. If the Read defender crashes toward the quarterback, the ball should be handed off to the running back.

P – Pitch Key Defender: Seen on option plays, the Pitch key is the defender you watch to determine if you should pitch the ball to the running back or keep it yourself. If the Pitch key crashes towards you, pitch the ball.

F – Force Defender: This defender is tasked with College Football 25 Coins containing the ball carrier on run plays, often directing the runner back inside toward other defenders.

C – Cutback Defender (Red Triangle): The Cutback defender’s role is to prevent the ball carrier from changing direction and running to the opposite side of the play. This icon appears when a ball carrier may attempt a cutback run.

C – Check Defender (Blue Triangle): Appears on check-and-release routes. A check defender is responsible for covering running backs or tight ends running routes that may result in blocking help or receiving passes.
