Despite the intense grind
meseta pso2 becomes towards the end (such as running the same dungeon like roughly 40-80 times to acquire a single level, amassing Blood Orbs and High Orbs to unlock the small stat boosts that add over over time, and more), I've felt that Dragon's Dogma Online is definitely an example of an online game I feel has definitely nailed the"open field" exploration with solid gameplay, optional combined multiplayer, and still provides both an obstacle and relatively casual experience for people who want it without setting up nasty traps for players to get trapped in to mess up their assembles. I never enjoyed that in Phantasy Star you can mess up your skill trees even though you receive the free chance to reset them (it doesn't help when I'm trying to help new buddies play and they spent their things without me guiding them or notifying them on why they don't need STR Up and they wind up running through Level 50+ without their stances and core skills).
Personal speculation: PSO2 has been ported to the NGS engine to keep players occupied involving NGS content releases. No new material will be published for it out of cosmetics, of which will be obtained/ported out of NGS events/scratches to get folks to play that. It'll be removed after a couple of years after all the players have migrated and the only people in the PSO2 blocks are diehards holdouts/nostalgia. Probably. It's a new game so odds are like some other Online RPG the initial release will not have much in regards to an endgame for those players who hit maximum level on day 1. It'll be wonderful to just switch blocks anytime I wanna hit up an old UQ though. There is never a reason to not see magatsu.
Excellent FAQ, answers a lot of my first doubts. Gosh, this looks so complex. On the one hand, kudos for keeping the original game intact so that there won't be a riot over changes people do not like. But on the other hand, since they're remaking base PSO2 visuals anyway, I wish they'd only go 100% and synchronize personality models completely. Giving old players a few free fashion items and unlocks will be enough to bribe everyone to accept the new system.
Synchronizing 100% personality models does not sound simple. The dilemma is that the old outfits and layer use are modeled to fit the old pso2 body. That is not likely to occur. Well, I mean that I'd be willing to shed a certain percentage of the cosmetics to keep things intact across variations. Provided that there's a steady feed of cool new things to replace it, I do not mind. I constantly rotate out my older looks anyhow. As long as the character models translate 1:1 it will still feel like mine.
I'd envision a large complication to this entails plenty of the makeup from the Japanese side of things that were exclusive to collaborations, promotional events, and events that no longer exist. The instance I can think of is the Dragon Hunter Frontier Z cooperation where I can imagine the clothing and weapons could definitely be provided a visual upgrade together with everything else but that I don't exactly understand how the licensing or the way the legal side of the cooperation works where I'd wish it was as easy as Sega going through and upgrading the resources but I do not know about how much of
cheap Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta Capcom is involved in that process.
