Runelite HD is a mod (made by one person with 117) that utilizes Old School RuneScape and gives it an HD transformation
RuneScape Gold. From the time of 2018, Jagex were issuing legal threats to mods that were similar to this with the claim that they were copyright infringement. However, these appeared to be a thing of the past when Jagex approved the original Runelite.
And, in the beginning of this week, just a few hours prior to the time when the upgraded Runelite HD was due for an official release, 117 was contacted by Jagex in a letter requesting that work stop immediately and that the release be delayed. However, this time it's not down to copyright issues, but rather because Jagex has stated that they're preparing its own HD upgrade.
Although it seems fair initially but it's not without a problem. Runelite HD doesn't actually seem to violate any of Jagex's rules for modding, and the company has announced that new guidelines that spell out the fact Runelite HD does actually break its rules will be out in the coming week.
